The New York City subway system operates 665 miles of track and 24 lines; and runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Demand for service is at historically high levels, with subway ridership at nearly 6 million riders every day. In order to meet growing demand and continue to be a powerful economic engine for the region, MTA must keep pace with technology and innovation.
The MTA Genius Transit Challenge consists of three competitions addressing three Challenge areas. Applicants must demonstrate how their ideas advance the core objectives associated with one or more of these Challenge areas.
The resources above contain public information that detail signal system specifications and other pertinent information. Additional materials will be provided to applicants who advance to Phase 2. For more information, please contact GeniusChallengeInfo@mtahq.org
